Getting Started

Thank you for making the decision to work with The Hearing Place! We know there are many audiologists to choose from and we sincerely value your business.

Getting started as a new patient is easy at The Hearing Place. We want you to be comfortable with whatever type of appointment you choose, which is why we offer so many different options. In general, here is what our new patients can expect when working with The Hearing Place:

Step 1

Once you call the clinic, we will book your initial 90 minute appointment for a hearing evaluation. We strongly encourage you to bring a family member with you to your appointment for support.

Step 2

On the day of your appointment, we will give you paperwork to fill out.

*Note: we ask each patient to fill out this paperwork again 6 months after the initial appointment to see how much progress has been made

Step 3

You will be seen by an audiologist, who will go over your paperwork with you and then begin your Comprehensive Hearing Evaluation. This test involves:

  • Listening for beeps
  • Speech testing
  • Bone conduction to determine if the hearing loss is a medical issue that needs to be addressed first

Your specialist will then go through the results of the evaluation with you to explain:

  • If you do or don’t have hearing loss and if so, to what degree
  • How the test results correlate to what you stated you were struggling with on your paperwork
  • If they recommend that you purchase hearing aids

Step 4

If it is determined that you need hearing aids, your audiologist will then show you the hearing aid products and will walk you through product demos and programing. At this time, you will also determine what you want your hearing aids to look like (in-ear, behind-ear, color, etc). Your hearing specialist can help you make those decisions.

Step 5

We will get you scheduled for a fitting appointment, approximately one week after your initial appointment, to fit your new hearing aids. This appointment takes one hour, during which time your specialist will review the following with you:

  • How to put your hearing aids on
  • How to charge/replace the batteries
  • How to program changes if needed
  • Real-Ear Verification measurements to determine that your aids are programmed to your specific hearing loss.
  • At home cleaning routine
  • How to use the app associated with your new hearing aids

Step 6

2-3 weeks after your fitting, we will ask you to come in for a follow-up appointment to make any fine-tune adjustments, or change the hearing aid brand and go through more demos if necessary.

Our 45-Day Satisfaction Guarantee enables you to decide whether or not you are completely satisfied with your new purchase. The Hearing Place provides each patient 45 days from the date of purchase to decide if they love their new hearing aids or not. If not, we will happily work with you to find something you love.

From here, we will schedule you for a 6-month maintenance appointment for your hearing aids.

If at any time throughout this process you aren’t ready to make a decision on hearing aids, our specialists will make recommendations about when to come back for a follow-up appointment.
